Job Description
**Position Overview:**
Serenity Hospice Care is seeking a compassionate and experienced Bereavement Department Manager to lead and oversee our bereavement services program. This role is responsible for ensuring that families and caregivers receive supportive, high\-quality grief services following the loss of a loved one, in accordance with hospice philosophy and regulatory requirements.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Oversee and manage the bereavement program, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards
* Supervise bereavement counselors, social workers, and support staff
* Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized bereavement care plans for families
* Ensure timely follow\-up services are provided for at least 13 months post\-loss
* Coordinate grief support groups, memorial services, and community outreach initiatives
* Provide guidance and emotional support to families experiencing loss
* Maintain accurate documentation and ensure proper record\-keeping in EMR systems
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care
* Train and mentor staff on best practices in grief counseling and bereavement care
* Monitor department performance and implement quality improvement initiatives
**Qualifications:**
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field (Master’s preferred)
* Minimum of 2\-3 years of experience in hospice, bereavement, or grief counseling
* Prior supervisory or management experience required
* Strong understanding of hospice regulations and bereavement care standards
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
* Compassionate, empathetic, and patient\-centered approach
This position is full time, Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
