Cemetery Digger
Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking a Cemetery Digger to join our team. As a Cemetery Digger, you will be responsible for digging graves and maintaining the cemetery grounds. This is a physically demanding role that requires the use of hand tools and power tools, as well as experience with a backhoe.
Responsibilities:
- Dig graves to specified depths and dimensions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to cemetery regulations using a backhoe
- Use hand tools such as shovels, picks, and spades to excavate soil
- Operate power tools such as backhoes or excavators for larger digging projects
- Assist with the placement of full vaults, cremains vaults, and grave markers into/onto graves
- Backfill graves with soil and tamp it down to ensure stability
- Assist with general maintenance tasks as needed
- Full-time, occasional overtime
Skills:
- Previous experience with hand tools and heavy equipment required
- Knowledge of basic landscaping/grounds maintenance helpful
-Strong attention to detail to ensure graves are dug accurately according to specifications
- Physical stamina to handle the demands of manual labor in various weather conditions
- Driver's license
- Chauffer's license preferred
