**City of Stratford** ===================== **Cemetery Maintenance** ======================== **(Internal Posting)** ====================== **Job Posting\#: 2026\-02\-G** ------------------------------ **Status: Permanent, Full\-Time** --------------------------------- **Union/Non\-union: CUPE 197** ------------------------------ **Date Posted: March 4, 2026** ------------------------------ **Salary: $31\.12/hour** ------------------------ **Closing Deadline: March 11, 2026** ------------------------------------ **Department/Division: Community Services/Parks, Forestry \& Cemetery Division** -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **Location: On\-Site (Stratford, ON)** -------------------------------------- **Duties:****Reporting to the Manager of Parks, Forestry \& Cemetery, Cemetery Maintenance performs a variety of duties related to the maintenance of cemetery grounds, monuments, trees, plantings, buildings and facilities.** -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **Work Performed:** * Performs duties related to preparation for burial, including grave opening and closing. * Spreads topsoil, lays sod, plants flowers, grass, shrubs and trees and performs other duties to assist maintaining grave sites and related structures. * Cuts grass, rakes, fertilizes and waters lawns, weeds gardens, prunes shrubs and trees and performs other maintenance duties. * Operates and maintains hand and power equipment including lawn mowers, back hoes, tractors, snowblowers, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, pruning saws and other landscape maintenance equipment. * Inspects, constructs, maintains and repairs cemetery equipment, facilities and structures. * Performs other manual duties to clean and maintain public and landscaped environments. * Reports defective conditions or indications of trouble to the Manager. * Assists and maintains a safe work environment. * Perform duties related to this position as assigned. **Qualifications:** ------------------- * Community College Diploma (1 year) in Horticulture or Landscaping. * Minimum 6–12 months related professional experience. * Valid Driver’s License (Class G). * Must be physically capable of performing required duties, operating required equipment, and able to work in all weather conditions. * Required to work according to a designated schedule including Winter Control Standby. **Specialized Skills, Abilities, Training, License, Memberships, or Certifications** * Chainsaw Certification. **Applications will be received until March 11th, 2026 at 4:30 pm.** -------------------------------------------------------------------- The City of Stratford is committed to building a culture where difference is valued.
