CEMETERY MAINTENANCE WORKER I
Job Description
The City of Ada is accepting applications for the position Cemetery Maintenance Worker I.
This position will perform skilled and semi-skilled labor in the construction, maintenance and related service activities for the city's cemeteries; to perform a variety of ground maintenance services including mowing, irrigation, turf and general equipment maintenance; and to perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance, construction and repair work in the area of work assigned, apply herbicides, pesticides and other chemicals in a safe manner; operate and maintain grounds maintenance and repair equipment; respond to inquiries and complaints from the public in a tactful manner; operate a variety of landscaping tools and equipment including backhoes, mowers, trucks and power tools such as chain saws, blowers, welders and weed eaters; perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time and in unfavorable weather conditions; follow all safety rules and regulations of the division to which assigned; and communicate clearly and concisely.
Field environment: exposure to dust and dirt, hazards associated with operating a motor vehicle, various chemicals including fertilizers and pesticides, toxic materials, contagious herbage diseases including poison oak and inclement weather conditions.
