**Job Summary**

This position is responsible for the installation and maintenance of headstones/niche covers and assisting with interment operations at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery – Little Falls by operating medium duty/specialized equipment and motorized vehicles, including the intermittent operation of heavy\-duty excavation equipment. This position also performs maintenance and repair of the cemetery physical plant and participates in grounds and roads maintenance operations as required by workload and/or seasonal conditions.
* Coordinate and perform monument installation by unloading, storing, verifying inscription accuracy, setting up layouts and grid lines, physically installing headstones and niche covers, and maintaining, replacing, or realigning existing monuments.
* Operate medium duty/specialized equipment and motorized vehicles required for interment operations to ensure interments (burials) and monument procedures are completed according to a high standard of care and accuracy.
* Maintain and repair the cemetery physical plant to ensure the proper working order of buildings, facility systems and infrastructure.
* Perform grounds/roads maintenance tasks as assigned or required by workload or seasonal conditions to ensure a very high standard of appearance and landscape health.
* Answer general questions from visitors and perform other related duties, as assigned.
* Work as part of a team with other participants in the MDVA Memorial Affairs Division, comply with Occupational Safety and Health act and perform miscellaneous tasks as required to facilitate the responsibilities of the work unit and the division.

**Qualifications**
------------------

#### **Minimum Qualifications**
* Experience in safely maintaining and operating medium duty/specialized equipment (e.g. dump truck, mini\-excavator, backhoe, skid steer, tractor, snow removal equipment, commercial lawnmower, or related equipment).
* Knowledge of general methods and practices of a variety of trades areas (e.g., mechanics, masonry, welding, electrical, plumbing, carpentry or other related areas) sufficient to maintain and repair facilities, tools and machinery in a timely and safe manner and assist licensed trade workers.
* Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to perform the job duties safely and efficiently.
* Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse weather conditions with or without reasonable accommodation.
* Valid Class D driver's license.
* Ability to operate and maintain a variety of power tools and hand tools.
#### **Preferred Qualifications**
* Experience with cemetery operations.
* Experience in facility maintenance and repair at commercial or residential properties.
* Ability to read and comprehend detailed plans, such as blueprints, gravesite layout maps, etc.
* Experience in facility automation and controls (e.g., HVAC, security systems, electronic access, lighting control systems, automated irrigation systems).
* Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping and turf maintenance.
* Knowledge of standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets and internet navigation sufficient to create and modify files and complete mandatory training and time entry, such as Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office Excel, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome.
