**Cemetery Operations Specialist / Backhoe Operator** Location: Anaheim, CA (Melrose Abbey Memorial Park) Position Type: Full\-Time, Hourly Position Overview Melrose Abbey Memorial Park is seeking an experienced, detail\-oriented Cemetery Operations Specialist. Because our general landscaping, mowing, and trimming are managed by an outside contractor, this position focuses entirely on the critical, specialized aspects of cemetery care, interment services, and light facility maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a deep respect for the solemnity of our grounds, a sharp eye for administrative accuracy, and the technical skill required to safely operate heavy machinery in tight spaces. **Key Responsibilities** ***Interment Services \& Cemetery Operations:*** * Execute the precise opening and closing of graves, mausoleums, and niches. * Direct and perform the installation of headstones, flat markers, and monuments according to park procedures. * Thoroughly execute the Interment Verification Process to ensure legal compliance, exact location mapping, and flawless accuracy prior to any service. * Maintain a comprehensive, expert understanding of the entire burial process from start to finish. ***Facility \& Equipment Maintenance:*** * Manage and execute daily work orders efficiently. * Oversee, troubleshoot, and repair commercial irrigation systems, including pipe installation and clock programming. * Perform light facility repairs, routine building maintenance, and basic janitorial duties to keep the indoor facilities pristine. * Conduct routine maintenance on the park’s equipment and machinery to ensure safety and operational longevity. ***Requirements \& Qualifications*** Experience: Minimum of 3\+ years of direct experience in cemetery operations or memorial park maintenance is strictly required. Machinery Skills: Proven proficiency and safety record as a Backhoe and Loader Operator (experience digging graves is highly preferred). License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Leadership (Preferred): Prior experience as a Team Leader, Foreman, or Superintendent is a plus, but not required. * Attributes: High attention to detail, strong organizational skills for tracking work orders, and a professional, respectful demeanor appropriate for a memorial park environment.
