Cemetery Worker (Temp/PT)

**SUMMARY OBJECTIVE** --------------------- Performs a variety of semi\-skilled and unskilled manual labor tasks and other duties, as required, within Cemetery division. Employees in this class perform semi\-skilled and unskilled work for cemetery projects. Occasionally operates non\-specialized equipment for completion of tasks; does related work as assigned. Work is performed under regular supervision. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** ----------------------- * Performs weed\-eating, grass cutting, and general labor work. * Assists skilled tradesman by carrying materials, tools and equipment. * Works grounds around cemeteries, ground facilities, and other assigned areas. * Follows safety procedures in performance of work and wears protective personal equipment (PPE). * Performs other duties as assigned. **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITITES** ------------------------------------- * Ability to operate and maintain materials, tools, and equipment to which assigned. * Ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions for completion of tasks. * Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions. * Ability to lift heavy articles. * Ability to read and write. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** -------------------------- **MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:** * High School Graduation or GED equivalent. * Related Work Experience **PHYSICAL DEMANDS:** *Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.* * Performs heavy work that involves constantly lifting, shoveling, and carrying 35 to 50 pounds on a regular and recurring basis and exerting 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis. **UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT):** *Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.* * Involves routine and frequent exposure to: + Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen. + Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions. **AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMPLIANCE** The City of Goldsboro is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
