French Funerals \& Cremations is looking for a full\-time Contract Accountant to join our team.
The Contract Accountant is responsible for for supporting Funeral Directors and ensuring that family contracts are complete and accurate.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES \& OWNERSHIP**
**Contract Accuracy \& Review (Primary Ownership)**
* Review family contracts to ensure all goods, services, and pricing are accurate and complete
* Reconcile vendor invoices to contracts to confirm all costs are captured correctly
* Identify and correct discrepancies in contract details, pricing, or documentation
* Ensure all contract\-related financial data is accurate and complete
**Pre\-Need Reconciliation (Primary Ownership)**
* Own the full pre\-need reconciliation process from start to finish
* File death benefit claims and track progress through completion
* Reconcile pre\-need insurance contracts to at\-need contracts accurately
* Review reconciliations prepared by Funeral Directors and ensure corrections are made
* Process pre\-need refunds accurately within CRM systems
**Funeral Director Partnership (Shared Accountability)**
* Communicate clearly and promptly with Funeral Directors regarding contract discrepancies and required corrections
* Follow through to ensure updates and corrections are completed
* Provide guidance and clarification to support accurate contract completion
* Escalate ongoing issues or delays to leadership when needed
**Refunds \& Adjustments (Primary Ownership)**
* Process family refunds resulting from contract changes accurately and timely
* Maintain accurate records of adjustments and ensure proper financial treatment
**General Ledger \& Reconciliation (Primary Ownership)**
* Perform reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts
* Maintain cash advance accounts and ensure proper tracking of pass\-through costs
* Prepare journal entries for accruals, adjustments, and variances
* Support month\-end close processes with accurate and timely completion
**Process Accuracy \& Continuous Improvement**
* Ensure consistent adherence to accounting procedures and internal controls
* Identify and address process gaps or inefficiencies
* Support Accounting team initiatives and projects as needed

* Ownership: Take full responsibility for contract accuracy and reconciliation processes
* Follow\-through: Ensure all discrepancies and corrections are completed fully with no loose ends
* Communication: Communicate early and clearly with Funeral Directors and team members
* Attention to Detail: Confirm all contract details and avoid assumptions
* Accountability: Address issues directly and ensure resolution
* Teamwork: Partner effectively with Funeral Directors and Accounting team
**SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE LOOKS LIKE**
* Contracts are accurate, complete, and require minimal correction
* Pre\-need reconciliation is clean, current, and fully resolved
* Discrepancies are identified early and corrected quickly
* Funeral Directors receive clear, timely communication and follow\-through
* Refunds and adjustments are processed accurately and without delay
Reconciliations are accurate with no unexplained variances
Requirements:
**REQUIRED EDUCATION \& EXPERIENCE**
Minimum Education:
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Some college preferred
Experience:
* 3\+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, contract\-related, or funeral experience
Strong experience with Excel and accounting systems
