Crematory Operator

**CREMATORY OPERATOR**

**Purpose:** The Crematory Operator plays a vital role in providing dignified and respectful care to the deceased while ensuring that every cremation is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with company procedures and applicable laws and regulations. This position requires operating cremation equipment with precision and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.

**Responsibilities**

* Provide respectful, dignified, and professional care of deceased individuals at all times.
* Receive, transfer, and properly place deceased individuals into the care of the crematory, including the physical lifting and movement of remains as required.
* Verify identification, authorizations, and required documentation prior to cremation, maintaining positive identification and proper chain of custody throughout the entire process.
* Prepare deceased individuals for cremation in accordance with established procedures and applicable regulations.
* Operate cremation equipment safely, accurately, and efficiently while performing cremations in accordance with company procedures and all applicable laws and regulations.
* Process cremated remains and prepare them for return to the funeral home, ensuring accurate identification throughout the process.
* Complete cremation logs, authorization records, identification documentation, and other required paperwork accurately and promptly.
* Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance, promptly reporting mechanical, maintenance, or safety concerns.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe crematory, including cremation equipment, work areas, and related facilities.
* Collaborate with funeral directors and other appropriate funeral home staff to coordinate cremations, transfers, and related services.
* Maintain strict confidentiality regarding deceased individuals, families served, and company operations.

**Requirements**

* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Previous experience in funeral service, crematory operations, cemetery operations, manufacturing, industrial equipment operation, or a similar environment is preferred but not required.
* Ability to obtain and maintain required crematory operator certification and training.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently follow established procedures, identification protocols, and safety requirements.
* Dependable, punctual, and able to work responsibly with limited supervision.
* Comfortable working with deceased individuals and within a crematory environment while maintaining dignity and professionalism.
* Physical ability to safely lift, move, push, and transfer deceased individuals and related equipment.
* Ability to handle sensitive and emotionally difficult situations with maturity, discretion, and professionalism.
* Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding deceased individuals, families, and company operations.
* Basic computer, documentation, and recordkeeping skills.
* Mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate, inspect, and perform basic troubleshooting of cremation and related equipment.
* Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
