Job Description

**Description** --------------- Boulder County Housing and Human Services Department is seeking to hire an **Eligibility Tech B Burial and Long\-Term Care technician.** The Eligibility Technician B works to create innovative pathways to administer public assistance benefits both Long Term care and burial services efficiently and accurately. The Long\-Term Care Unit works with people with disabilities and aging adults to access help with daily activities. The work is fast paced and technical in nature and each member of our team must demonstrate a passion for helping our community and supporting the work that we do. Additionally, this position will be responsible for administering our burial program which includes supporting families, the coroner’s office, Funeral Homes, and local hospitals in final arrangements for our residents. The Burial technician will be responsible to coordinate pick up of the deceased, arrange for applications for burial assistance, payment of burial assistance and assist with final arrangement requests. As a Burial Technician, you’ll be the subject matter expert in interpreting policy and processing burial cases while showing empathy to those that have lost a loved one. We are seeking an individual who enjoys working in a fast\-paced environment, has strong communication and project management skills while maintaining attention to detail. Additionally, this person will support current processes improvement with the goal of continuous improvement using LEAN and process improvement strategies to ensure quick and accurate processing of both long\-term care and burial assistance. This is a **full\-time benefited position**. This position will work **Monday\-Friday 8:00a\-4:30p.** This position will be hybrid, working remotely and out of the St Vrain Community Hub (515 Coffman St \#100 **Longmont)** This position is **non\-exempt** and eligible for overtime. **Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.** **Hiring Salary Range:** $55,116\.00 \- $67,254\.00 Annually Tentative Hiring Timeline: * Phone Screening: Week of March 30th * First Round Interviews: Week of April 6th * Second Round Interviews: Week of April 13th * Language Proficiency Test: Week of April 27th * Reference Check: Week of April 27th New employees receive an 80\-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re\-hire date to qualify). Visit studentaid.gov for more information. **Examples of Duties** ---------------------- * Gathers and reviews financial and other pertinent information from applicants, coroner’s office, community partners, and hospitals to use in determining eligibility for burial and Long\-Term Care assistance programs. * Informs families and community partners about program requirements. * Clarifies and interprets appeal rights and procedures. * May assist applicants, families, community partners in completing forms and securing documents and other verification needed. * Approves or denies applications within required time frames. * Is on call during business hours for hospitals and community partners to coordinate and assist with deceased residents. * Enters pertinent data into computer systems and uses appropriate systems to gather and verify data. * Could be trained in the following programs: Long\-Term care, SNAP and cash, as well as the burial program rules and regulations. * Will be trained in processing of applications, recertifications and changes in association with Long – Term Care, Medicaid, SNAP, or Cash programs. * Performs related work as required * May be reassigned during emergency situations **Required Qualifications** --------------------------- PLEASE NOTE: When completing your application describe all relevant education and experience, as applications are assessed based on the required qualifications listed. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of * Two (2\) years of experience working with the public, including one (1\) year working in a public assistance program is required. Additional related education may count towards required experience. **BACKGROUND CHECK:** * A job offer is contingent on passing a background investigation with fingerprinting **Supplemental Information** ---------------------------- **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:** * Efficient organizing, planning and prioritizing skills, a working knowledge of public assistance programs and community resources, and proficiency in basic office computer programs including Windows XP/7, Word, Outlook, and Excel * Skilled in verbal and written communications, customer service, and working effectively with other employees, community partners, and the public * Problem\-solving abilities as well as the ability to perform moderately complex tasks * Experience with the Colorado Benefits Management System (CBMS) is highly preferred Boulder County is a workplace dedicated to supporting individuals and families of all types and to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and respectful environment for all employees.
