Job Description
**Position Summary**
We are seeking an experienced **Funeral Service Practitioner / Manager** to lead day\-to\-day operations while providing compassionate, professional service to families. This role combines funeral service responsibilities with operational leadership, team support, and administrative oversight.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Provide funeral arrangement conferences and guide families through service options
* Coordinate and oversee funeral, memorial, graveside, and cremation services
* Ensure all required permits and documentation are completed accurately and timely
* Maintain compliance with New Mexico licensing requirements, state regulations, and company procedures
* Manage daily chapel operations, staff scheduling, and service coverage
* Support and lead team members with a focus on professionalism, accountability, and service excellence
* Communicate with clergy, cemeteries, medical examiners, hospitals, and third\-party vendors
* Handle decedent transfers and care coordination as needed
* Maintain accurate case files, records, and reporting
* Respond to families with urgency, empathy, and clear communication
**Required Qualifications (Non\-Negotiable)**
* Current New Mexico Funeral Service Practitioner license (or ability to obtain/transfer quickly, if applicable)
* Minimum 3–5 years experience in funeral service operations (management experience strongly preferred)
* Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage multiple services/cases simultaneously
* Strong communication and customer service skills
* High attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
* Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends and on\-call rotation as needed
* Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Experience managing chapel operations, staff performance, and scheduling
* Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Navajo) is a plus
* Experience with funeral home management systems and administrative reporting
