General Manager

*(Regional Legacy Cemetery – Established 100\+ Years)* Terrace Height Memorial Park ( THMP ) , a well established, beautifully maintained regional cemetery with approximately 100 years of history is seeking a hand\-on, community\-oriented General Manager to lead operations, preserve the cemetery's reputation for excellence, strengthen relationships with funeral homes and families, and guide the organization toward long\-term financial sustainability as industry trends evolve. This position oversees all cemetery operations including administration, grounds maintenance, customer service, vendor and funeral home relationships, financial performance, and strategic growth initiatives. This position is a full time job and reports directly to and serves at the pleasure of the Board of Directors. **Key Responsibilities** **Leadership \& Operations** * Direct day\-to\-day operations of the cemetery including office administration, grounds, maintenance, interment scheduling, and customer service. * Supervise and support: * 3 office staff members * 10\-person landscape and maintenance team, including foreman * Maintain exceptionally high standards for appearance, landscaping, cleanliness, and overall presentation of cemetery grounds. * Foster a culture of professionalism, compassion, accountability, and teamwork. * Coordinate effectively with funeral homes, monument companies, clergy, and service providers to ensure seamless services for families. **Family \& Community Relations** * Serve families with empathy, professionalism, and responsiveness during difficult and emotional times. * Build and maintain strong relationships with regional funeral homes, hospices, churches, veterans’ organizations, and community groups. * Represent the cemetery at civic and community events. * Enhance the cemetery’s reputation as a respected and trusted regional institution. **Strategic Growth \& Revenue Development** * Develop innovative strategies to address changing burial trends and declining traditional interments. * Identify and implement new revenue opportunities, including: * Cremation gardens and niches * Memorial benches, trees, and plaques * Mausoleum or columbarium expansion * Pre\-need planning programs * Celebration\-of\-life event spaces * Heritage tours and historical programming * Digital memorialization offerings * Veteran or specialty memorial sections * Improve marketing visibility and community engagement. * Explore partnerships and programming that increase long\-term sustainability while honoring the cemetery’s historic character. **Grounds \& Facility Oversight** * Work closely with the foreman to maintain outstanding landscaping and grounds conditions. * Oversee maintenance planning, equipment, irrigation, roads, buildings, and infrastructure. * Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. * Develop long\-range capital improvement plans. **Financial \& Administrative Management** * Prepare and manage annual operating budgets. * Monitor revenues, expenses, lot inventory, and operational performance. * Oversee purchasing, contracts, vendor relationships, and recordkeeping. * Ensure accurate cemetery records and compliance with applicable state regulations. **Desired Qualifications** * Leadership or management experience in cemetery operations, funeral service, parks, hospitality, property management, landscaping, or a related field. * Strong people\-management and team\-building skills. * Excellent communication and relationship\-development abilities. * Financial and operational management experience. * Appreciation for history, community service, and maintaining beautiful grounds. * Ability to think strategically and creatively about future growth opportunities. * Compassionate customer\-service mindset. * Experience working with funeral homes or in end\-of\-life services is preferred but not required. **Ideal Candidate Traits** * Visible and approachable leader * Community\-minded and relationship\-oriented * Organized and detail\-focused * Comfortable balancing tradition with innovation * Takes pride in maintaining a first\-class appearance * Skilled at developing trust with staff, families, and industry partners **Mission of the Role** Preserve and enhance the cemetery’s long\-standing reputation for beauty, dignity, and service while positioning the organization for continued relevance and financial sustainability for future generations.
