When emotional support thrives, care thrives—and you can help make that happen. **About the Role** ------------------ We’re seeking a dedicated **Grief Support Counselor** to provide emotional support, counseling, and education to individuals and families experiencing grief and loss. In this role, you’ll offer individual and group counseling, lead community support programs, and represent Blue Ridge Care in outreach and education efforts. You’ll work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team committed to helping people heal, grow, and find hope after loss. **How You’ll Make a Difference** -------------------------------- ### **Individual Counseling \& Support** * Provide short‑term individual grief counseling to adults and children. * Help clients understand typical grief responses, cope with the pain of loss, and engage in healthy self\-care. * Address the needs of special populations, including survivors of suicide and individuals experiencing traumatic loss. ### **Group Facilitation \& Program Leadership** * Lead grief support groups and collaborate with colleagues to plan and run **Camp Kaleidoscope**. * Plan and coordinate **two annual Remembrance Services** for the community. ### **Community Outreach \& Education** * Provide educational presentations to community groups about grief, loss, and available support services. * Represent Blue Ridge Care with professionalism and compassion. ### **Documentation \& Care Planning** * Document all interactions, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with agency policy. * Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all client interactions. ### **Training, Grants, \& Program Development** * Assist in orienting new employees and volunteers on grief support principles. * Support grant\-related programming and complete required reporting. * Contribute to policy development, protocol updates, and continuous program improvement. ### **Professional Growth \& Collaboration** * Engage in ongoing professional development and welcome constructive feedback. * Participate in departmental and agency\-wide quality improvement efforts. * Demonstrate independence, professionalism, and commitment to the mission. ### **Flexibility \& Travel** * Travel throughout the service area to meet client needs. * Be available for occasional evening or weekend work as required. **What You Bring** ------------------ * **Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling required** (licensure preferred). * Experience providing grief support or working in a care/hospice setting preferred. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills. * Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records. * Ability to travel throughout the service area. **Why You’ll Love Working Here** -------------------------------- At Blue Ridge Care, taking care of people starts with taking care of our team.
