Grounds Crew Member

JOB SUMMARY: · The primary responsibility is for duties relating to the safety, upkeep, and beautification of the Wildwood Cemetery and Crematory’s facilities and grounds while embodying the spirit of the Wildwood Cemetery Mission Statement ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Perform the following duties as needed: o Have burial areas prepared for service considering safety and visual appearance, o Dig traditional and cremation graves, o Open community crypts and private mausoleums for burial and cleaning, o Assist with interments in crypts and niches, o Foundations, bronze, and Veteran marker installation, o Straighten crooked, toppled, or misplaced stones, o Grave maintenance, i.e. fill graves after settlement, level with top soil, seed, o Removal of deteriorated/broken decorations, o Mowing and trimming of grass, o Tree removal and trimming, o Rake, blow, and gather leaves, sticks, branches, and limbs o Snowplowing / shoveling / snow \& ice removal to ensure safety of the visitors, o Road Maintenance and road cleaning as needed o Projects as needed for care and maintenance of the facilities relating to safety, upkeep and beautification. · Become proficient on all cemetery equipment · Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of cemetery equipment · Be willing to work Saturday as scheduling may deem necessary QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: · H.S. Diploma or GED · PA Driver’s license (required) · Previous experience in the funerary profession is preferred but not required PREFERRED SKILLS: Small engine mechanic, landscaping experience, basic knowledge of hand / power tools and landscaping equipment Including the following but not limited to Backhoe operation, zero\-turn \& walk behind mower, weedwhacker, leaf blower, chain saw, hand tools ADDITIONAL NOTES: SCHEDULE: Working hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm weekdays and 7:30am to 12:00pm on Saturday, when needed. Occasionally hours may vary depending on funeral arrivals and other circumstances. ATTIRE: Proper work attire is long pants, boots, long sleeve or short sleeve shirt, and safety equipment (Glasses, ear plugs, etc.) is required. Seasonally appropriate shirts will be provided by the organization. EQUIPMENT: Safety equipment will be provided, or the employees may use their own. Wildwood will not repeatedly give out safety equipment if the employee abuses or loses such equipment. Wildwood will replace personal safety equipment on a case\-by\-case basis.
