POSITION: Grounds Maintenance Worker
DEPARTMENT: Public Works – Cemetery and Parks
SCHEDULE: Full\-Time – 8 Hour Shifts
**(On Call When Needed)**
SALARY: $15\.00 per hour \- $15\.75 per hour to start
Dependent Upon Experience

**JOB SUMMARY**: **(Applicant must meet minimum qualifications)**
This position is responsible for supporting the maintenance and upkeep of municipal cemeteries, parks, and public grounds. This role performs manual labor, operates light equipment, and ensures clean, safe, and well\-maintained outdoor spaces for residents and visitors.
**MAJOR DUTIES**:
o Maintain cemetery grounds including mowing, trimming, edging, debris removal, and some grave site maintenance.
o Perform parks maintenance tasks such as mowing, landscaping, litter removal, playground inspections, and facility upkeep.
o Operate light equipment and tools including mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and small utility vehicles.
o Operate Non CDL dump trucks.
o Support tree and vegetation management, mulching, planting, and irrigation tasks.
o Follow all safety procedures and maintain clean, organized work areas.
o Assist with special events, seasonal projects, and storm debris cleanup.

**KNOWLEDGED REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION**:
* Municipal or Public Works experience.
* Valid Georgia Class A, B, CDL or ability to obtain.
* Certifications in trench safety, flagging, or erosion control.
* Knowledge of city and safety policies and procedures.
* Knowledge of grounds maintenance techniques.
* Skill in driving a truck.
* Skill in operating such equipment and machinery as required to complete the assigned task.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
* **Demonstrate ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.**
* **Possession of a valid State of Georgia driver’s license.**
* **One year experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, park operations, or Public Works.**
* **Demonstrate ability to perform physical labor in outdoor environments.**
Pay: $15\.00 \- $15\.75 per hour
