Mount Calvary Cemetery – Cheektowaga, NY $24\.90 per hour \| Union Position (SEIU Local 200\) **About Mount Calvary Cemetery** Mount Calvary Cemetery is a historic 365\-acre Catholic cemetery serving families across Western New York. Our grounds are maintained with care, dignity, and respect, providing a peaceful and beautiful place of remembrance for the community. We are seeking a Horticulturalist to lead and manage horticultural and planting programs across the cemetery property. **Position Summary** The Professional Gardener oversees horticultural and arboricultural programs throughout the cemetery, ensuring planting areas, gardens, and landscaped spaces are designed, maintained, and presented to the highest standards. This position works closely with the Grounds Operations leadership team and is responsible for planning, planting, and maintaining gardens across cemetery grounds. **Responsibilities** * Design gardens and planting plans across cemetery properties with approval from the VP of Grounds Operations and President. * Select and purchase plants, materials, chemicals, and supplies required for horticultural operations. * Implement spraying and treatment programs to maintain healthy plantings. * Maintain planting beds, landscaped areas, and gardens throughout the property. * Ensure all planting areas are neat, healthy, and well maintained. * Perform duties of a cemetery attendant when required. **Qualifications** * Associate degree in Horticulture or equivalent certification from an accredited horticultural program and/or * Minimum six (6\) years of continuous work experience as a New York State certified nurseryman. * New York State pesticide and herbicide applicator license required. * Minimum two (2\) years experience as a professional gardener. * Valid New York State Driver’s License. **Skills \& Physical Requirements** * Ability to organize and schedule work to maintain landscaped areas to a high standard. * Strong knowledge of horticultural practices and plant care. * Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds unassisted. * Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. **Compensation \& Benefits** * $24\.90 per hour * Union position – SEIU Local 200 * Stable, year\-round employment * Opportunity to work on one of the region’s most historic and respected cemetery landscapes **Work Environment** This position works outdoors across the cemetery’s landscaped grounds and gardens and requires physical activity including lifting, planting, spraying, and landscape maintenance. **Apply Today** If you are passionate about horticulture and take pride in maintaining beautiful landscapes that serve the community, we encourage you to apply.
