Independent Sales Agent

**Location:** Castlewood, VA (regional route)

**Job type:** Contract (1099), commission only

**About Us**

We're a small, family-owned company in Southwest Virginia that delivers professional supplies to funeral homes in the region. We'll share more about the business during the interview.

**The Job**

We're looking for an independent account agent to work our supply route. You'll visit accounts on the route, take orders, deliver product, and ring up sales on a mobile checkout. Also, utilizing calls to generate orders. We will train on our systems.

You'll start with an established customer base and a CRM that already has every account in it. There's room to add new accounts as time goes on. The person who does well here keeps showing up and keeps following up.

**What You'll Do**

* Visit funeral homes on the route and get to know the people you serve
* Take orders and deliver product, using a hand truck (dolly) for cases and heavy items
* Process sales on Square Point of Sale System
* Follow up with accounts that haven't ordered yet
* Tell us what customers are asking for that we don't carry

**What We're Looking For**

* Professional manner and business casual dress at every stop
* Able to lift up to 50 lbs and move product with a hand truck
* Comfortable running sales on Square or a similar point-of-sale app
* Persistence. Follow-up is a big part of this job.
* Discretion. What you see and hear at customer locations stays there.
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
* Sales or route experience helps but isn't required
* Living in or near Castlewood, VA is a big plus

**Pay and Terms**

This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Pay is commission only, with no base pay: you earn % of gross sales on the orders you bring in. Commissions are paid daily or weekly. Will be required to take a Haz-Mat Certification Course (free, online)
