We serve various funeral home establishments, hospitals, nursing homes, cemeteries and coroner offices in Columbus OH and surrounding areas, with opportunities for long distance travel, and are committed to providing compassionate, professional, and timely services during difficult times. We are a growing company seeking compassionate, self\-motivated, personable, and dependable professional individuals. Prior experience in the mortuary industry is preferred, it is not required as we provide paid on\-the\-job training. As a Mortuary Transport Specialist, you will be responsible for the safe, respectful, and dignified transport of deceased individuals to their designated funeral homes or facilities. You will work closely with bereaved families, medical professionals, funeral directors, and local law enforcement. **Responsibilities and Physical Requirements:** * Safely and respectfully remove and transport decedents to and from hospitals, funeral homes, medical examiners' offices, residences, crematories and other designated facilities and locations. * Handle all transportation logistics while maintaining exceptional customer service to grieving families and professionals. * Perform heavy lifting and assist with logistics. Must have the ability to move, lift, push, pull, bend, twist and move heavy decedents and equipment up to 300\+ lbs. Must be able to navigate stairs, confined spaces, and work in varying environments. * Ability to sit for long periods and drive in various weather conditions. * Working conditions are in the field with exposure to damp\-wet surfaces, decomposing decedents, infectious diseases, and unfavorable odors. * May encounter physically and emotionally challenging situations, so emotional resilience and professionalism are essential. * Communicate effectively with funeral home staff, medical personnel, and family members to coordinate transportation needs. * Follow directions and adhere to company policies, safety protocols, and regulations regarding the transport process, including traffic laws, safety procedures, and confidentiality standards as part of transport services. * Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of vehicles and ensure the removal vehicles are properly stocked with necessary supplies (including personal protective equipment, PPE). No smoking in work vans. * Complete all necessary paperwork, including identifying tags and logs, and ensure that all legal and procedural requirements are met. * Be able to respond promptly to transport requests, and work various shifts including nights, weekends, holidays and on\-call (as needed). * Report mechanical problems, accidents or incidents immediately to the appropriate authorities. **Qualifications:** * **Must have at least 1 year of experience in this field or a related area** (i.e. First Responders, etc.) * At least High School Diploma or equivalent * Valid driver’s license and clean driving record within the last 3 years * Must be insurable * Must be able to pass background check and drug screening (pre\-employment and random checks) * Must **reside in** **Columbus, OH** (or surrounding area) and be available for on\-call duties * Ability to navigate using GPS and basic computer skills * Working and reliable personal cell phone * Experience as a van driver (preferred) * Must know English (Bilingual preferred) **Dress Code:** * Maintain a clean and professional appearance, adhering to a conservative dress code. Examples of professional attire includes sports jacket, dress shirt, sweater, vest, necktie, slacks, dress shoes, boots (black/brown). * No visible tattoos, facial piercings, or gauges. Tattoos must be covered by clothing. **Additional Details:** * Schedule flexibility is required as work is based on the timing of calls related to the passing of individuals. * Employees are required to respond to calls within 5 minutes of dispatch and to be on the road quickly. * 90\-day probationary period for all new hires. **Compensation:** * **Please make note that the pay is $35\-$45 per decedent removal, NOT per hour**, and may increase depending upon distance of removal travel.
