Job Description
**Overview**
Local mortuary transportation company seeking driver/handler to transport deceased from place of death to funeral homes or other locations. Professionalism, reliability, respect, integrity, dignity, and empathy are crucial components to this role. Must have a good driving record, and be able to lift the minimum of 75 lbs. Looking for the right applicant who is willing to be on call Monday\-Friday including nights with weekends off. Hours will vary depending on service volume. No prior experience needed. Willing to train the right applicant.
This role is a great resume builder for applicants looking to get into the funeral home industry, EMT, nursing, law enforcement, and mortuary school.
Dress Code: Employees are required to have their own suit and tie. Scrubs will be provided by the company to the employee for calls requiring specialized care. Employees shall have a neat and wrinkle free appearance while conducting their duties.
Compensation: Pay is issued per removal, with additional compensation for removals exceeding three hours. Hours vary based on service volume and are not guaranteed.
**Duties**
* Safely operate vehicles for transporting deceased persons to funeral homes and other locations.
* Coordinate with funeral homes, hospitals, families, and other facilities to schedule pickups and drop\-offs efficiently.
* Assist with the proper handling and secure loading of decedents, ensuring respectful treatment at all times.
* Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure safety and reliability.
* Communicate clearly with team members and clients to confirm transportation details and address any concerns promptly.
* Maintain accurate documentation of transport logs and other paperwork required by funeral homes and other facilities.
* Uphold strict adherence to safety protocols, infection control standards, and confidentiality regulations.
**Skills**
* Able to drive safely and efficiently with a good driving record.
* Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and clients.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling decedents or equipment.
* Knowledge of vehicle maintenance basics to identify issues early and ensure vehicle safety.
* Able to take a customer service role demonstrating professionalism and empathy during interactions.
* Valid Ohio driver’s license is required.
Job Type: Part\-time
Pay: $30\.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 – 24 per week
