Office Manager
Job Description
**Office Manager | John F. Tierney Funeral Home & The Green Cremation**
**Full-time · On-site · Manchester, CT**
**Hard work. Meaningful work. A chance to make a difference every day.**
There will be paperwork - a lot of it. There will be busy phones, changing priorities, and details that need to be right. There will also be laughter, kindness, and heartfelt gratitude from families you’ve helped through some of their most difficult days.
John F. Tierney Funeral Home is a third-generation, family-owned business with deep community roots. Through The Green Cremation, we introduced Connecticut’s first water cremation service, helping lead our industry toward new possibilities in how we care for people and honor their lives.
We’re looking for an Office Manager with
**a capable mind, an open mind, and a kind heart**
- someone who wants to take ownership, support our team, and grow with us.
**What you’ll do**
* Keep daily office operations, schedules, records, and communications organized.
* Prepare and review service documents, advance-planning contracts, insurance forms, and other important paperwork.
* Support billing, payment tracking, and coordination with our bookkeeper.
* Help create obituaries, memorial stationery, slideshows, and meaningful materials for families.
* Communicate with families, funeral directors, vendors, and service providers with warmth and professionalism.
* Learn new systems, improve processes, and help both businesses move forward.
**What you’ll bring**
Strong administrative skills, attention to detail, comfort with technology and numbers, and dependable follow-through. You’ll need to manage competing priorities, protect confidential information, and remain thoughtful and composed when the day gets stressful.
Just as important:
**kindness, curiosity, and an open mind.**
We welcome ideas, value people who ask questions, and need someone willing to learn as our work evolves. Funeral service experience is welcome, but not required.
**What you can expect**
You will work hard. You will handle sensitive situations and substantial paperwork. You will share laughs with your coworkers and experience the satisfaction of making someone’s day a little easier.
You’ll be part of a team that respects its history, embraces new possibilities, and believes leading an industry begins with taking exceptional care of people.
**If this sounds like work you could take pride in, send us your résumé and a brief note about why this opportunity speaks to you.**
