We serve private pet parents throughout the Maricopa and Pinal County area, offering dignified transport, pet cremation or aquamation, and upgraded memorial packages at an affordable rate.
**Position Summary:**
We are currently seeking a dependable and compassionate **Pet Retrieval Specialist** **in Central Phoenix** to join our team as an independent contractor. In this role, you will respond to calls for deceased animal intake in our office and backup main drivers with retrieval of larger animals from homes, veterinary offices, and animal care facilities across the Maricopa County area. You may also be sent on your own retrievals at times if the main drivers are not available. This is a sensitive and emotionally nuanced position that requires professionalism, empathy, and respect for grieving clients. **You must reside in Central Phoenix to be considered. We do operate 24 hours a day but you are not busy at all times, we are primarily busy in the evenings / overnight / mornings.**
**Responsibilities:**
* Meet clients at our Mortuary location (19th Ave \& Campbell) to intake their pets, and backup Main Drivers with pet retrieval of larger animals.
* Transport animals safely and respectfully to our mortuary or crematory. **This is a 1099 position so you utilize your own vehicle. We provide almost everything else you need.**
* Collect a fur clipping and clay paw print from each pet.
* Return ashes and keepsakes to clients homes when ready.
* Communicate professionally and compassionately with grieving pet parents and veterinary staff.
* Maintain a clean, respectful, and professional appearance at all times.
* Handle documentation and chain\-of\-custody protocols accurately.
* Answer phone when Available. Be available for on\-call assignments, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
**Requirements:**
* Valid Arizona driver's license with a clean driving record
* Reliable, insured vehicle capable of discreet animal transport
* Smartphone for dispatch communication and documentation
* Required Availability
* Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs
* Strong emotional intelligence and sensitivity to end\-of\-life care
* Black scrubs
* **PREFERRED:** Previous experience in veterinary or Funeral Home care
* **PREFERRED:** Bilingual (English / Spanish)
**Compensation:**
Competitive per\-call pay based on size of pet and distance. Paid as a 1099 contractor – you control your availability. As a 1099, you are in control of your taxes. Specialists are paid every Friday.
