Overnight Transfer Mortuary Care Specialist (Removal Technician)

The Overnight Transfer Mortuary Care Specialist is responsible for transporting deceased human remains to funeral homes, crematories, and medical examiner's facilities from places of death including hospitals, nursing homes and other institutions, private residences, and accident scenes.

This position will require work to be performed in Jefferson County and surrounding areas and may also require commuting to other areas on shifts or on a call-by-call basis.

The ideal applicant is dependable and a fast learner who has strong communication skills and represents themselves in a professional manner.

This position will work in-person out of the office in Birmingham during the night shift. This is a full-time position that works 12-hour shifts, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., averaging a minimum of 36 to 48 hours per week, with the possibility of overtime.

Applicant must have reliable transportation to and from the office in Birmingham. The applicant must also have a dependable phone.

**Responsibilities**

-Safely performs removals and transports of deceased human remains in company vehicle to specified locations in accordance with company policies and local laws

-Represents the company and its clients in a professional manner by following best practices

-Maintains a clean driving record that is acceptable to commercial insurance carriers

-Performs on-call responsibilities, including nights, holidays and weekends

**Qualifications**

-Must be able to follow instructions and task-oriented

-Must work well with a team

-Must follow all company policies and procedures as provided in training and follow company business professional dress code

-Must be comfortable with communicating in a professional manner in difficult situations

-Must be able to work rotating weekends

-Must be high school graduate or GED equivalent

-Must have ability to push/pull 75 lbs. and lift 50 lbs. for short intervals

-Must have valid state-issued driver's license and clean driving record

-Must consent to background check and randomized drug testing

This position is strictly night shift and requires full-time availability.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $7.25 - $17.25 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 – 60.0 per week
