Parks/Cemetery Crew Leader

JOB To maintain all parks with group of parks and cemetery employees by the means of cleaning, mowing, baseball field work, and general upkeep of the restrooms for the parks. For the cemetery department help assist citizens and funeral homes on selling, marking and locating of graves. This position also requires the upkeep of mapping, filing and record keeping of all information concerning both City Cemeteries. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Clean and pick up trash in parks, restrooms, etc.;Mow and trim parks;Maintain equipment;Basic carpentry work using hand tools, painting, concrete work, etc.;Baseball field work, infield, bases, pitching mounds, and outfield work; Fix minor water leaks and sprinkler leaks;Oversee work crew all assigned job duties to ensure the high standards of the parks and cemeteries.Maintains and updates cemetery records.Helps citizens and funeral homes concerning the sales of grave spaces.Helps citizens and contractors with locating and marking of grave spaces for monuments and curbing work and completing necessary permits for these situations.Maintains maps for both City Cemeteries.Manages herbicide and pesticide spraying in cemeteries and parks to reduce weeds, ants and etc. Will also fertilize all necessary areas as needed.Operate backhoe when necessary to assist in any job needed to be performed.Assists in training of new employees with all safety issues and equipment.Performs all necessary job evaluations of subordinates. Performs such other duties as may be assigned. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Ability to evaluate the need for and be able to perform various repairs; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city personnel and the general public; ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization; ability of basic carpentry and concrete skills.Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort with an emphasis on the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of heavy objects and materials (10\-100 pounds); ability to stand or walk for extended periods; ability to use hands to handle or feel; and ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
