Part-time Mortician Indeed

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented **Pet Memorial Care Specialist** to join our family-owned pet aftercare team.

This is a unique and meaningful position caring for beloved pets after they have passed away and supporting their families during an incredibly emotional time. The right person will understand that every pet entrusted to us is a deeply loved member of someone's family and deserves to be treated with dignity, gentleness, and respect.

This position combines family interaction, transportation, memorial preparation, and hands-on pet aftercare. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working around deceased animals and can remain compassionate and professional when assisting grieving pet parents.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

* Welcome pet parents and compassionately assist families bringing their pets into our care.
* Receive and respectfully handle deceased pets of various sizes.
* Pick up pets from family homes, veterinary hospitals, and other locations as needed.
* Safely transport pets back to our facility.
* Assist with scheduled appointments for families picking up their pet's cremated remains and memorial items.
* Prepare urns and memorial packages for families.
* Create clay and/or ink paw print keepsakes.
* Take fur clippings and prepare other memorial keepsakes requested by families.
* Verify pet identification and carefully follow our tracking and documentation procedures.
* Prepare cremated remains for placement into the family's selected urn.
* Ensure urns, paw prints, certificates, and other memorial items are properly prepared and presented before family pickup.
* Maintain a clean, organized, respectful, and professional facility.
* Assist with general aftercare operations and other duties as needed.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who is naturally compassionate but also comfortable with the physical and emotional realities of pet aftercare.

You should be:

* Kind, patient, and empathetic when communicating with grieving families.
* Comfortable handling deceased dogs, cats, and other companion animals.
* Dependable and punctual.
* Extremely detail-oriented.
* Able to follow identification and tracking procedures without taking shortcuts.
* Comfortable driving to homes and veterinary offices for pet pickups.
* Able to work independently as well as part of a small team.
* Comfortable communicating professionally with veterinary staff and pet families.
* Able to maintain composure in emotional situations.
* Respectful of different beliefs and ways families choose to grieve or memorialize their pets.
* Willing to learn our standards for pet handling, memorial preparation, and family care.

Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on position. Candidates must be comfortable standing, bending, lifting, carrying, and assisting with the movement of pets.

The position may involve handling pets of various sizes, including large dogs. Team lifting and appropriate equipment should be used when necessary.

Important Consideration

Pet aftercare can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be emotionally challenging. You will regularly interact with families who have just lost a beloved companion and will work directly with pets who have passed away.

We are looking for someone who understands the importance of this responsibility and can provide the same level of dignity and care they would want for their own pet.

Why Join Our Team?

Our work is about much more than cremation. We help families through one of the most difficult parts of loving a pet: saying goodbye.

Every paw print carefully made, every urn prepared, every pet respectfully transported, and every compassionate interaction with a family matters.

If you are dependable, compassionate, comfortable working with animals after they have passed, and want a position where your work genuinely makes a difference for families, we would love to hear from you.
