PT Funeral Assistant (On Call)

Seeking an on\-call, part\-time funeral assistant to assist with visitations, funerals and memorial services at our family\-owned funeral home. Typically, will have 2\-10 days’ notice of an available shift. Shift times range but are usually 4\-6 hours in length, can be any day of the week including weekends within the hours of 8am to 8pm. Must be able to do stairs, bend and lift 50 lbs, use a smart phone and follow a dress code. Do you like to help people? This is an ideal job for you. Duties include greeting and welcoming families and visitors, conversing with guests, assisting Funeral Directors with as\-needed tasks prior to, during and following a service, closing funeral home following evening visitations, operating all funeral home vehicles, assisting in the set up and tear down of the chapel space before and after services, serving as pall bearer and assisting family members in preparing to serve as pall bearer at services, running any last\-minute errands as needed, directing the parking lot during services and visitations and preparing vehicles for procession. This position works both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather. Shifts will take place at the funeral home as well as at various churches and event spaces around the Traverse City area. A friendly, helpful demeanor is essential as this position is the primary point of contact for families and guests attending services.
