Removal Specialist – On-Call Support (Independent Contractor)
Job Description
Looking for a flexible way to earn additional income while doing meaningful work in your community? Eickenhorst Funeral Services is seeking dependable individuals to join our removal team as On-Call Support Specialists. This is an independent contractor, on-call position designed for individuals looking to earn supplemental income around work, school, family, or other commitments. Our greatest need is for individuals who can assist during evenings, overnight hours, and weekends. No funeral service experience is required. Training is provided.
**ABOUT THE POSITION**
Removal Support Specialists assist an experienced lead responder with the safe, respectful, and dignified transportation of deceased individuals from residences, hospitals, nursing facilities, medical examiner offices, and other locations to our funeral home. You will always work alongside a lead responder and will never be dispatched on a call alone.
**COMPENSATION**
* $25 per completed call + $10 per hour
* 1.5-hour minimum guaranteed per call
* $40 minimum compensation per call
* Longer calls are compensated based on actual time
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
* Assist the lead responder with the safe and dignified transfer of deceased individuals
* Assist with moving and operating removal equipment
* Maintain professionalism and compassion when interacting with families, healthcare personnel, and other professionals
* Follow established procedures and the direction of the lead responder
* Help maintain the cleanliness and readiness of equipment
**REQUIREMENTS**
* Reliable transportation and a working cell phone
* Ability to respond to our Conroe location within approximately 20–30 minutes when scheduled/on call
* Ability to lift at least 50 lbs independently and assist with heavier lifting and maneuvering
* Dependable, punctual, professional, and able to remain calm in sensitive situations
* Comfortable working in residences, hospitals, nursing facilities, medical examiner offices, and similar environments
* Comfortable working around deceased individuals and circumstances associated with death
* Ability to successfully complete a background check
* Valid driver's license
**AVAILABILITY**
Our greatest need is evenings, overnight hours (approximately 6 PM–6 AM), and weekends. Applicants with availability during these periods will receive the strongest consideration. This opportunity may be a good fit for students, individuals with full-time or part-time employment, retirees, or anyone looking for meaningful supplemental income. Funeral service experience is not required. What matters most is reliability, maturity, professionalism, compassion, and a willingness to serve families during an important and difficult time.
