Funeral Director Assistant

Position Overview The Funeral Director Assistant works closely with the licensed funeral director to help conduct services, make arrangements, and assist with interments. This is a professional role requiring integrity, discretion, and a caring demeanor. Key Responsibilities * Receive and respond to first calls * Meet with families to discuss funeral, burial, cremation, and memorial arrangements * Ensure services honor the deceased and meet the wishes of the family while complying with legal and cultural requirements * Prepare the deceased for viewing (dressing, cosmetic preparation, and casketing) * Oversee and coordinate cremation processes * Arrange transportation, scheduling, and coordinate with clergy, cemeteries, crematories, and florists * Prepare and file death certificates, cremation permits, transport permits, and other legal documentation * Assist with obituary placement and coordination of memorial details Requirements * Reliable and dependable * Good moral character and standing in the community * At least 18 years of age * Minimum of 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited college or university (degree not required) * Successful completion of the Oklahoma State Law Examination for Funeral Directors * Ability to lift at least 75 pounds * Professional appearance and business attire required Work Schedule * Funeral service is a 24\-hour, 7\-day profession. * Regular scheduled hours (typically 45–55 hours per week) * Weekend hours common * On\-call duty required * This position requires a personable, sincere, and professional manner and appearance at all times Compensation \& Benefits * Starting pay: $17\.00 per hour (pay increase after training and successfully passing the law exam * 100 % health and life insurance provided after 90 days. * Holiday pay and PTO after one year * Supplemental income opportunity for applicants willing to obtain an Oklahoma Life Insurance Agent license Please no phone calls or walk\-ins. **Training will be provided, no prior experience is necessary.** 2\-3 positions may be available depending on number of qualified applicants.
