Mortuary Driver / Transport Runner

**Overview**
Join our dedicated team as a Mortuary Driver / Transport Runner, where your role is vital in ensuring respectful, dignified care and safe transport of the deceased, as well as supporting daily mortuary operations in a timely manner. The ideal candidate demonstrates compassion, professionalism, and the ability to work efficiently in emotionally sensitive environments while adhering to safety standards and protocols.

**Responsibilities**

* Transport the deceased from residences, hospitals, convalescent homes, coroners’ offices, airports, and other designated locations to the mortuary.
* Ensure the deceased is handled with the utmost care, dignity, and respect at all times.
* Maintain accurate documentation for each transport, including logs, delivery receipts, and incident reports.
* Communicate effectively with funeral home staff, medical personnel, coroners, and family members to ensure smooth and professional operations
* Address any logistical issues promptly.
* Document and log all personal belongings accompanying the deceased at the time of pickup, ensuring accurate recordkeeping.
* Complete all required transport and chain\-of\-custody paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
* Deliver supplies, paperwork, flowers, and other necessary items between mortuary locations, service sites, and related facilities.
* Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the transport vehicle and equipment.
* Assist team members as needed and contribute to overall operational efficiency.
* Work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
* Perform all duties efficiently while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.
* Transport floral arrangements from the mortuary chapel or church to the cemetery in a careful and respectful manner.
* Ensure all floral displays are arranged appropriately at the gravesite and handled with care to maintain presentation standards.

**Requirements**

* Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and in good standing.
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* Previous experience in mortuary transport or removal services preferred.
* Bilingual skills are a plus.
* Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle inspections and troubleshooting minor issues.
* Physical ability to lift heavy loads safely and stand for extended periods during transport duties.
* Ability to regularly lift and move up to 100 lbs.
* Ability to assist with lifting up to 300 lbs using proper equipment and team support.
* Ability to bend, stand for extended periods, navigate stairs, and push/pull stretchers and equipment.
* Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
* High level of compassion, discretion, and professionalism.
* Ability to maintain composure in emotionally intense environments.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, especially with documentation and personal effects logging.
* Ability to follow strict procedures and regulatory guidelines.
* Dependable, punctual, and self\-motivated.
* Strong teamwork mindset with willingness to assist others.

**Work Environment**

* Frequent exposure to emotionally sensitive situations.
* Work performed at hospitals, private residences, nursing facilities, coroner’s offices, cemeteries, churches, airports, and mortuary facilities.
* Combination of independent fieldwork and team\-based collaboration.

Job Type: Full\-time

Pay: $17\.81 \- $22\.00 per hour
